Overview
CTS worked as Main contractor for Bilfinger to deliver the project at the Hull Women's and Children's Hospital Building for the client Hull and East Yorkshire Hospital NHS Trust.
Work began to refresh the staff area and main patient facing areas of the main labour ward. This work took 4 weeks. The entrance ways were reconfigured and staff offices refreshed and facilities upgraded.
Phase 2 saw three main birthing rooms and other staffing areas closed for a complete makeover. Months of planning and fine tuning with the design team saw the rooms fully upgraded. The old bathrooms were converted to walk in wet rooms and the birthing rooms fitted out with princess birthing pools. We completed a facelift of the corridors, waiting areas and staff areas, including a triage room and an additional treatment room.
The works were successfully handed over in on time and in budget, with the Unit being opened by Fatima Allam, whom the centre is named in honour of.
The labour ward at Hull and East Yorkshire Women and Children's Hospital has approximately 6000 births a year.
